Wolverines drop two

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped to 3-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon by dropping a pair of conference matches at Westminster College's Memorial Field House. The Wolverines (6-12) opened the day with a 21-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-16 setback against host Westminster.

In the second match of the afternoon, Washington & Jefferson pulled out a 25-18, 19-25, 25-12, 17-25, 15-10 win over Grove City.

Sophomore Anna McCurdy (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) paced Grove City with 16 kills against Westminster. Junior Inge Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) collected eight kills and sophomore Mary Masincup (Churchville, Va./Grace Christian) had seven kills.

Sophomore setter Annie Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) recorded 34 assists. Defensively, Rasmussen and junior libero Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) both had 18 digs.

Rasmussen led three players with double-figure kill totals against W&J as she tallied 15 kills. Masincup and McCurdy each posted 10 kills while Barry distributed 34 assists.

Budd recorded 23 digs while Rasmussen contributed 18 digs. McCurdy also had three blocks.

Grove City will host Thomas More Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in PAC action.
