Wolverines drop pair

BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped both ends of a Presidents' Athletic Conference tri-match Saturday afternoon at Bethany College's Hummel Field House. Grove City opened play with a 25-18, 25-14, 25-16 setback against Geneva. In Saturday's nightcap, Bethany secured a 25-16, 25-15, 25-12 victory over Grove City.

Sophomore Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) led Grove City with 10 kills against Geneva. Freshman setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) recorded 15 aces. Defensively, freshman Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) posted three blocks and freshman Taylor Gerent (Westlake, Ohio/Christian Community) tallied eight digs.

Gerent recorded seven kills and freshman Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) added six kills against Bethany. Schmidt had 16 assists. Gerent recorded nine digs and junior Heather Good (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) chalked up eight digs.

The match with Geneva does not count in the conference standings due to Geneva's provisional status in NCAA Division III.

Grove City (3-7, 1-1 PAC) hosts Penn State Behrend Tuesday night in the 2010 home opener at 6:30 p.m.
