Thiel slips past Wolverines

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to host Thiel Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia. Thiel secured a 25-19, 25-14, 17-25, 25-16 victory.

Sophomore Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) recorded a team-high 10 kills for Grove City (6-16, 3-8 PAC) and freshman Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) added nine kills. Freshman setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) recorded 29 assists. Willits also served four aces and freshman Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) served a pair of aces.

Defensively, senior Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) chalked up 32 digs. Junior Heather Good (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) recorded 16 digs and freshman Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) added 11 digs. Branch and Mander both had two blocks each.

Grove City will visit Westminster Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in conference action.
