Westminster holds off Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 25-16, 25-22, 20-25, 26-24 decision to host Westminster Tuesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Memorial Field House.

Grove City (6-17, 3-9 PAC) trailed 22-20 in the fourth set but rallied to forge a tie at 24. However, Westminster (15-11, 10-3 PAC) scored the final two points of the set to secure the match victory.

Sophomore Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) led Grove City with 16 kills while freshmen Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) and Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) both posted eight kills each. Freshman setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) recorded 37 assists. Branch and junior Heather Good (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) each served three aces.

Senior Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) tallied 11 digs and freshman Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) added 10 digs. Good contributed nine digs.

Grove City will host conference foe Bethany Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
