Bethany slips past Grove City
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a 25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19 decision to visiting Bethany Thursday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena.
Sophomore Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) recorded a team-high 13 kills for Grove City. Freshman Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) added six kills. Freshman setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) recorded 25 assists.
Defensively, four Grove City players recorded double-digit dig totals. Senior Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) led Grove City with 18 digs while junior Heather Good (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) collected 13 digs. Freshman Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) had 12 digs and Willits contributed 11.
Freshman Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) led the Wolverines with four blocks. Willits had three blocks while Branch, freshman Taylor Gerent (Westlake, Ohio/Christian Community) and freshman Sarah White (West Chicago, Ill./Wheaton Academy) all had two blocks each.
The Wolverines (6-18, 3-10 PAC) will visit Thomas More Saturday at 2 p.m. in conference play.
