Wolverines conclude season with win

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team wrapped up the 2010 season Saturday afternoon with a 25-9, 25-12, 25-16 victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Chatham on Senior Day in the Grove City College Arena.

Freshman Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) recorded a team-leading nine kills for Grove City (7-21, 4-12 PAC). Sophomore Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) and freshman Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) both had seven kills each. Willits also served a season-high four aces.

Freshman setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) recorded 21 assists and classmate Marie LaBossiere (Saunderstown, R.I./Prout) added 10 assists.

Senior Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) posted 24 digs while Branch had five blocks.

Grove City honored Budd, the team's lone senior, prior to Saturday's match. Budd finishes her career second all-time at Grove City with 1,866 digs. Budd's 5.82 digs per set average is the second highest single-season average in program history.
