Bethany tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a 22-25, 25-9, 25-11, 25-18 decision to visiting Bethany (11-0, 2-0 PAC) Wednesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena.

Sophomore Taylor Gerent (Westlake, Ohio/Christian Community), sophomore Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) and junior Elisabeth Willits (Hatboro, Pa./North Penn) each tallied a team-high eight kills for Grove City (4-4, 1-2 PAC).

Sophomore setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) recorded 31 assists. Willits and sophomore Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) both served two aces.

Defensively, senior libero Heather Good (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) led Grove City with 18 digs. Gerent added 10 digs while Skinner contributed nine digs.

Freshman Dalaney Algiere (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) posted five blocks and Schmidt had four blocks.

Grove City will compete in the Allegheny Invitational Friday night and Saturday in Meadville, Pa. Friday, Grove City will play Frostburg State at 6 p.m. before meeting Penn State Behrend at 8 p.m.
