Wolverines pull out road win, give Roberts No. 600

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team rallied for a 14-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10 victory over host Waynesburg Wednesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Rudy Marisa Field House. The win is the 600th for Grove City head coach Susan Roberts in 29 years as a head volleyball coach.

Junior Elisabeth Willits (Hatboro, Pa./North Penn) led Grove City with 17 kills while freshman Dalaney Algiere (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) recorded nine kills. Sophomore setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) distributed 38 assists.

Defensively, Willits tallied 16 digs, senior Heather Good (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) had 15 digs and Schmidt added 10 digs. Algiere posted three blocks.

The Wolverines also won in five sets at Waynesburg last year, including a 15-10 win in the fifth set September 8, 2010. In 2009, Waynesburg earned a five-set win over the Wolverines at Rudy Marisa Field House.

Roberts, a native of Ontario, Ohio, now has a 600-408 all-time coaching mark, including a 548-384 record at Grove City. Roberts is Grove City's all-time coaching victory wins leader with 715. She recorded 101 wins as head women's basketball coach from 1985 to 1993 and 66 as head softball coach from 1994 to 1998.

Roberts is one of 11 active NCAA Division III coaches with 600 or more victories.

Grove City (11-8, 3-5 PAC) will host Washington & Jefferson and Saint Vincent Saturday in a PAC tri-match at 11 a.m. in the Grove City College Arena.
