Geneva nips Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 22-25, 25-12, 25-20, 26-28, 15-6 decision to visiting Geneva (15-7, 10-1) Tuesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena.

A balanced effort paced Grove City (12-10, 4-7) as sophomore Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian), sophomore Taylor Gerent (Westlake, Ohio/Christian Community), sophomore Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) and senior Mary Masincup (Churchville, Va./Grace Christian) all had eight kills each.

Sophomore setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) posted 38 assists while Masincup served two aces.

Defensively, Schmidt recorded 19 digs while senior Heather Good (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) added 18 digs. Sophomore Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) had a dozen digs and Masincup recorded 11 digs.

Freshman Dalaney Algiere (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) tallied seven blocks while Gerent added three.

Grove City visits Westminster Thursday at 7 p.m. in conference action.
