Grove City humbles W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team improved to 14-13 overall Thursday night by earning a 25-15, 18-25, 25-18, 25-14 win over host Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Henry Memorial Center.

Sophomore Taylor Gerent (Westlake, Ohio/Christian Community) led Grove City with 10 kills while senior Mary Masincup (Churchville, Va./Grace Christian) and junior Elisabeth Willits (Hatboro, Pa./North Penn) both posted eight kills. Sophomore Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) added seven kills.

Sophomore setter Casey Schmidt (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) distributed 34 assists.

Senior Heather Good (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) led the Grove City defense with 15 digs and Schmidt recorded 14. Branch led Grove City with seven blocks, Schmidt tallied six blocks and Willits contributed five blocks.

Grove City (5-10 PAC) hosts conference foe Chatham Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
