Bethany tops Grove City

BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College volleyball team fell to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tuesday night with a 25-16, 25-21, 25-21 setback at conference-leading Bethany (15-3, 5-0 PAC) in Hummel Field House.

Junior Tierza Rangel (Houghton, N.Y./Fillmore Central) led Grove City with 10 kills and junior Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) added six kills. Sophomore setter Amy Collins (Landenberg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) recorded 17 assists.

Defensively, junior Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) led Grove City with 14 digs and sophomore Frances Trenta (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) added a dozen digs. Freshman Christa Currier (Rifle, Colo./Coal Ridge) and senior Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) each had four blocks.

Grove City returns to action Friday at the York College Tournament in York, Pa. The Wolverines will play FDU-Florham at 3 p.m. before meeting Cortland State at 7 p.m.
