Bethany clips Grove City, 3-1

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped to 9-9 overall and 4-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Thursday night with a 25-11, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17 home setback against visiting Bethany (18-4, 9-1 PAC) in the Grove City College Arena.

Junior Tierza Rangel (Houghton, N.Y./Fillmore) led Grove City with 10 kills. Junior Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian), junior Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) and senior Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) all added seven kills for the Wolverines.

Sophomore setter Amy Collins (Landenberg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) recorded 17 assists and freshman setter Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) had a dozen assists. Branch and sophomore Frances Trenta (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) both served two aces.

Trenta led the defense with 15 digs and junior libero Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) added 11 digs. Branch had four blocks and Rangel contributed three blocks.

Grove City will visit Beaver Falls, Pa., Saturday for a conference tri-match at 11 a.m. The Wolverines will face Geneva in the first match before meeting Thomas More in the 1 p.m. match.
