Wolverines drop two

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team fell to 9-11 overall and 4-6 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon by dropping two matches in a conference tri-match at Geneva College's Metheny Field House.

Grove City opened the day with a 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 setback against Thomas More. The Wolverines then fell to Geneva, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20.

Against Thomas More, junior Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian), freshman Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian), junior Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) and junior Tierza Rangel (Houghton, N.Y./Fillmore Central) all had four kills each.

Sophomore setters Amy Collins (Landenberg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) and Rebecca Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) both had 10 assists.

Junior Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) led the defense with 14 digs and senior Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) added 10 digs.

Mander and Rangel evenly split a dozen kills against Geneva. Collins recorded 12 assists and Nelson had seven assists. Skinner tallied 14 digs and Branch had five blocks.

Grove City will visit Washington & Jefferson Tuesday at 7 p.m. in conference action.
