Grove City sweeps Yellow Jackets

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team improved to 10-8 overall Wednesday night by earning a 25-17, 25-22, 25-17 victory over host Waynesburg in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Rudy Marisa Field House.

Senior Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) paced Grove City with 11 kills while classmate Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) collected nine kills. Junior setter Amy Collins (Landenberg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) recorded 15 assists and sophomore Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) tallied 14 assists.

Senior Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) led the Grove City defense with 17 digs while sophomore Elisabeth Casey (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) posted eight digs. Junior Dalaney Algiere (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) had two blocks.

The win gives Grove City (4-4) a season sweep of Waynesburg. The Wolverines picked up a 3-0 win over Waynesburg in Beaver Falls, Pa., September 14.

Grove City will host a conference tri-match Saturday in the Grove City College Arena. The Wolverines host Saint Vincent at 11 a.m. before playing Washington & Jefferson at 3 p.m.
