W&J tops Grove City

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a 25-18, 26-24, 25-21 decision at Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Washington & Jefferson Saturday afternoon at the Henry Memorial Center.

Senior Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) led Grove City (13-13, 6-9 PAC) with 10 kills. Senior Shelby Mander (Dade City, Fla./Pasco) added five kills.

Sophomore setter Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) recorded 15 assists and junior setter Amy Collins (Landenberg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) posted 10 assists.

Defensively, junior Frances Trenta (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) led Grove City with 15 digs. Trageser and senior Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) both had 12 digs. Senior Tierza Rangel (Houghton, N.Y./Fillmore Central) tallied five blocks and junior Dalaney Algiere (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) had four blocks.

W&J improved to 14-9 overall and 6-9 in the conference.

Grove City will host conference foe Chatham Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
