Wolverines edged by Saint Vincent
LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a five-game match to Saint Vincent, falling 25-12, 20-25, 23-25, 25-16, 15-11 on Saturday afternoon in the Carey Center.
Senior Ashley Branch (Colorado Springs, Colo./Evangelical Christian) led the Wolverines by matching a career-high with 17 kills while classmate Tierza Rangel (Houghton, N.Y./Fillmore Central) posted 11 kills. Both Branch and Rangel added three blocks.
Junior setter Amy Collins (Landenberg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) recorded 21 assists and sophomore Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) added 13 assists.
Senior Tara Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) led the Grove City defense with 31 digs while junior Frances Trenta (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) recorded 15 and Collins and sophomore Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) added 12 each.
Today's match was the regular-season finale for both teams.
With the loss, Grove City will be the sixth seed in the upcoming six-team Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament. The Wolverines will travel to #3-seed Thomas More on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a first-round match.
