Grove City splits tri-match

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team moved to 2-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday by splitting a conference tri-match at Waynesburg University's Rudy Marisa Field House. After dropping a 25-19, 25-17, 25-19 decision to Geneva in Saturday's opener, Grove City (8-5 overall) rebounded for a 25-13, 25-14, 25-14 triumph over host Waynesburg.

Freshman LeAnne Disco (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) helped lead the Wolverines in the win over Waynesburg by recording nine kills. Freshman Ariella Carter (Avon, Ohio/Hearts For Jesus Christ) added seven kills. Junior setter Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) tallied 28 assists and junior Madelin Lussenhop (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) served four aces.

Disco led the defense with five blocks. Senior Frances Trenta (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) collected 14 digs and junior Libbie Casey (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) added nine digs.

Junior Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) and freshman Jamie Robatisin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) each had six kills against Geneva. Each player also served two aces. Trageser posted 16 assists.

Junior Stephanie Althausen (Asheville, N.C./Asheville Christian) led Grove City with 10 digs and Trenta added nine digs. Senior Dalaney Algiere (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) recorded three blocks.

Grove City will host Penn State Behrend Tuesday night at 6:30 in non-conference play.
