Grove City earns split

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team went 1-1 Saturday afternoon in a Presidents' Athletic Conference tri-match at Thiel College's Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia. Grove City opened the day with an 11-25, 25-19, 25-20, 18-25, 15-11 setback against Westminster. However, Grove City (11-8, 4-4 PAC) rebounded for a 27-25, 25-15, 26-24 sweep of host Thiel in Saturday's finale.

Freshman Jamie Robatisin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) paced Grove City with 10 kills against Thiel while junior Stephanie Althausen (Asheville, N.C./Asheville Christian) added nine kills. Junior setter Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) distributed 31 assists and served three aces. Junior Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) served two aces.

Galens and Robatisin both had 17 digs for Grove City while senior Frances Trenta (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) added 14 digs. Galens and freshman Ariella Carter (Avon, Ohio/Hearts For Jesus Christ) both had four blocks. Senior Dalaney Algiere (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) posted three blocks.

Galens tallied 19 kills in Saturday's opener against Westminster. Algiere, Althausen and Robatisin all had nine kills apiece. Trageser distributed 43 assists and also had three aces. Robatisin contributed two aces.

Trenta led the defense with 27 digs while Robatisin added 26 digs. Galens (19) and Trageser (18) also had double-digit dig totals. Algiere had five blocks while Robatisin posted four blocks. Carter added three rejections.

Grove City returns to action Wednesday night when the Wolverines visit conference foe Bethany at 7 p.m.
