Grove City drops two

DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Friday evening at Ohio Wesleyan University's Bishop Invitational. The Wolverines opened play with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-9 setback against Alma. Grove City then fell to Hanover in four sets, 25-17, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22.

Freshman Laura Buchanan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) paced Grove City with 10 kills against Alma while senior Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) tallied seven kills. Senior setter Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) recorded 13 assists.

Junior libero Jessica Althausen (Asheville, N.C./Asheville Christian) led the defense with 10 digs. Buchanan posted three blocks and senior Libbie Casey (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) had two blocks.

Buchanan, Casey, Galens and sophomore Jamie Robatisin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) all had eight kills in the nighcap against Hanover. Robatisin also served three aces.

Althausen led the defense with 13 digs while Robatisin recorded a dozen digs. Galens added 10 digs. Buchanan again totaled three blocks.

Grove City will face Manchester at noon Saturday. The Wolverines close the tournament with a 2 p.m. match Saturday against Defiance.
