Grove City splits at OWU

DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Grove City College volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon in the second and final day of competition at the Ohio Wesleyan University Bishop Invitational. Grove City opened play with a 31-29, 26-24, 25-19 victory over Manchester. The Wolverines then dropped 25-23, 24-26, 26-24, 25-6 verdict to Defiance in the final match of the weekend.

Senior Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) paced Grove City (4-9) with six kills against Manchester while senior setter Amy Grageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) distributed 21 assists. Junior Jessica Althausen (Asheville, N.C./Asheville Christian) served three aces.

Defensively, sophomore Ariella Carter (Avon, Ohio/Hearts for Jesus Christ) posted seven blocks and Galens added three blocks. Galens also had 18 digs and Althausen totaled 13 digs.

Sophomore Jamie Robatisin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) tallied 11 kills against Defiance to lead the Wolverines. Freshman Laura Buchanan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) recorded nine kills. Trageser distributed 26 assists while Althausen accumulated three aces.

Trageser chalked up 18 digs while Althausen had 16 digs. Galens recorded 13 digs. Buchanan and Carter both posted eight blocks while senior Libbie Casey (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) had three blocks.

Grove City returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference play Wednesday night with a 7 p.m. home match against Geneva.
