Grove City splits tri-match

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team moved to 3-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference by splitting a tri-match Saturday at Waynesburg University. The Wolverines opened play with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-23 win over Waynesburg. Grove City then dropped a three-set decision to Bethany, 25-15, 25-21, 25-18.

Sophomore Jamie Robatisin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) paced Grove City in Saturday's opener with 13 kills. Freshman Laura Buchanan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) added nine kills and sophomore Ariella Carter (Avon, Ohio/Hearts for Jesus Christ) contributed seven kills.

Senior Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) recorded 31 assists. Carter and junior Jessica Althausen (Asheville, N.C./Asheville Christian) both served two aces.

Defensively, Althausen tallied 24 digs and sophomore Beka Russell (North Canton, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) posted 11 digs. Carter posted three blocks.

Buchanan led the Wolverines with nine kills against Bethany while Robatisin recorded six kills. Trageser had 19 assists. Senior Libbie Casey (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) posted a team-high six digs. Carter and sophomore Hannah Foster (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Garaway) each had two blocks.

Grove City will visit conference rival Thiel at 7 p.m. Thursday night in Greenville.
