Sparks Sets Career Kills Record

October 6, 1998--Grove City College senior Liz Sparks (Grove City, PA/Grove City) became the school's all-time leader in kills as the Lady Wolverines swept past visiting Carnegie Mellon University, 15-5, 15-3, 15-10, Tuesday at the College Arena.

Sparks recorded 11 kills -- exactly what she needed -- to break the school record for career kills set by Sarah Hamsher from 1993-1996.  Sparks, a four-year starter who missed half of last season with an injury, now boasts 1,179 kills for her career.  Her 4.62 kills per game average in 1998 leads the Presidents' Athletic Conference and ranks 10th in Division III.

The Lady Wolverines have not surrendered a single game to Carnegie Mellon in the last seven meetings.

Grove City plays PAC front-runner Washington & Jefferson College Thursday, October 8, at 6:30 p.m. in Washington, PA.
