September 11, 1998--Grove City doubled its pleasure Friday night in Meadville, winning two five-game matches in first-day action at the six-team Allegheny Tournament.

The Lady Wolverines, now 4-2 overall, defeated Allegheny in the first match, 10-15, 15-7, 13-15, 15-8, 15-8, then topped Fredonia in the nightcap, 15-9, 8-15, 14-16, 15-7, 15-11.

Senior Liz Sparks (Grove City, PA/Grove City) continued her torrid pace, recording 28 kills in the first match and 24 in the second for a 5.2 kills per game average on the night.  Sparks came in averaging 4.87 kills in her first 15 games.

Sophomore Krista Summers (Staunton, VA/Grace Christian) posted 27 kills in the two matches, while freshman Julie Porter (Medina, OH/First Baptist Christian) finished with 24 kills and senior Emily Bintz (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) tallied 22 kills. 

Senior Erin Mayne (Elyria, OH/Elyria) registered 55 assists in the first match and 15 in the first two games of the second match. 

The Lady Wolverines open the second day of the Allegheny Tournament Saturday against Geneseo beginning at noon.
