Grove City Goes 1-1 At Juniata Invite HUNTINGDON, PA, October 1, 1999--The Grove City College women's volleyball team split two marathon matches in first-day action at the Juniata College ASICS Volleyball Invitational. The Lady Wolverines dropped their first match to Rochester Institute of Technology, 15-10, 15-12, 14-16, 10-15, 14-16, then won the nightcap over SUNY-Brockport, 6-15, 15-10, 15-12, 9-15, 15-13. Cara Denniston (Grove City, PA/Grove City), who made her second and third starts of the season, recorded 98 assists in the two matches. Julie Porter (Medina, OH/Highland) and Sarah Gardner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) each posted a team-high 29 kills, while Heather Oates (Delavan, IL/Delavan) led the way in digs with 44. Grove City, now 9-8 overall, resumes play Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against Western Maryland College. |
