Eight Is Enough


WASHINGTON, PA, October 9, 1999--Lady Wolverine volleyball head coach Susan Roberts endured her seventh and eighth consecutive five-game matches Saturday, as Grove City College came out on the short end against both defending conference champion Washington & Jefferson College and non-league foe Denison University.

Grove City first fell to host W&J, 11-15, 15-11, 15-10, 9-15, 8-15.  Sarah Gardner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) registered a team-high 22 kills.  Cara Denniston (Grove City, PA/Grove City) recorded 61 assists  and four solo blocks, while Laura Goll (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) chipped in with 31 digs.

Julie Porter (Medina, OH/Highland) boasted 18 kills in the 8-15, 15-8, 6-15, 15-12, 11-15 loss to Denison.  Krista Summers (Staunton, VA/Grace Christian) was credited with five solo blocks and two assisted blocks.  Denniston posted 40 assists and 20 digs, while Heather Oates (Delavan, IL/Delavan) also contributed 20 digs.

Grove City fell to 3-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, 11-12 overall.  The Lady Wolverines are 3-5 in the span of eight straight five-game matches.
