One Up, Two Down In The 'Burgh


PITTSBURGH, PA, October 23, 1999--The Grove City College women's volleyball team opened Saturday's quad match at Carnegie Mellon University with a 15-13, 15-11, 15-7 win over Kenyon College, but followed with three-game losses to CMU, 9-15, 9-15, 11-15, and Daemen College, 14-16, 11-15, 12-15.

Julie Porter (Medina, OH/Highland), Sarah Gardner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) and Laura Goll (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) led the way with nine kills each in the sweep over Kenyon.   Goll added 20 digs and Cara Denniston (Grove City, PA/Grove City) had 32 assists.

Porter recorded a team-high nine kills against CMU, while Heather Oates (Delavan, IL/Delavan) contributed 12 digs and Denniston had 31 assists.

Goll registered 11 kills and 20 digs against Daemen.  Oates also had 20 digs in the nightcap.

The Lady Wolverines' record moved to 15-15 overall.
