Grove City wins third straight with 37-point victory
GROVE CITY, PA, December 6, 2000--Senior Kristina Dixon (Smethport, PA/Smethport) scored a game-high 19 points -- all in the first half -- as Grove City improved to 5-1 with an 84-47 win over visiting Pitt-Bradford, who dropped to 1-5.
The Lady Wolverines, who came in shooting 38% from the field, shot 62.5% in the game (30-48), while holding the Lady Panthers to a 34.5% clip (19-55). Dixon knocked down 8 of 10 shots from the floor, while junior Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) hit 5 of 9 and finished with 16 points. Sophomore Christy Faller (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) tallied 10 points, hitting 3 of 3 from the field. Junior T.L. Thompson (Girard, PA/Girard) chipped in with nine points on 4-for-6 shooting and added six assists.
Nine other Lady Wolverines dented the scoring column as Grove City posted its largest margin of victory since beating Chatham last season (Feb. 7), 97-32.
Laura Dillaman paced the Lady Panthers with 13 points.
Pitt-Bradford cut a 13-point deficit to five, 26-21, with 5:33 left in the first half, but the Lady Wolverines recovered with an 18-0 run and led 46-25 at halftime.
Grove City, off to its best start since rolling off 10
wins to start the 1982-83 campaign, plays at Allegheny on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
