Lady Wolverines suffer third loss at Hiram
HIRAM, OH , January 10, 2001--The Grove City Lady Wolverines used an 18-2 run to cut a 31-13 deficit to two, but host Hiram held on to win the non-conference clash, 59-51, at Price Gymnasium.
Junior Kristy Kegg (Johnstown, PA/Ferndale) came off the bench and recorded a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Wolverines (9-3), hitting two three-pointers and converting 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. Junior Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) tossed in three treys and finished with 10 points and six assists.
Grove City, who trailed 27-13 at halftime, shot a season-low 28% from the floor (19-69), 15% in the first half (5-34). The Lady Wolverines misfired on their first 12 three-point attempts before hitting 6 of 14 from outside the arc after intermission.
LeeAnn Schaffert and Andrea Wymer paced Hiram (3-10) with 21 and 19 points, respectively. The Lady Terriers shot 37% in the game (17-46) and outrebounded Grove City, 50-41.
The Lady Wolverines play at first-year Division III program Ursuline (OH) Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
