Lady Wolverine offense stalls at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, PA, January 27, 2001--The Grove City Lady Wolverines shot a season-low 26% from the floor Saturday and slipped to 11-6 overall with a 49-31 loss at Westminster, who improved to 8-9.

The 31 points marked the lowest single-game total in the team's 25-year history.

The Lady Wolverines cut a 27-18 halftime deficit to six, 30-24, with 17:46 left to play but never got closer, shooting just 18.8% (6-32) after the break.  

Westminster was held to just 34.5% shooting in the game and a season-low 49 points, but owned a commanding 51-34 edge on the glass.

Junior Livia Wright (Economy, PA/Ambridge) scored a team-high nine points for the Lady Wolverines, while Robin Thayer and Teale Ganster each tossed in 15 to pace the Lady Titans.

Grove City was held to 33 points in 53-33 losses to Carnegie Mellon and Pitt-Bradford in 1997-98 and 1994-95, respectively.  The previous record low, however, was set in a 46-32 loss to Geneva in Game Three of the 1987-88 campaign.
