Geneva downs Lady Wolverines, 59-40

GROVE CITY, PA, December 5, 2001--Senior T.L. Thompson (Girard, PA/Girard) and freshman Abby Moose (Mercer ,PA/Mercer) recorded four steals apiece as Grove City forced 30 turnovers, but visiting Geneva put three players in double figures and held the hosts to 26% shooting in a 59-40 victory over the Lady Wolverines at the College Arena. 

Geneva (4-4) held Grove City (2-3) scoreless through the first four minutes and opened up an 11-5 lead six minutes into the game.  The Lady Wolverines answered with a 9-0 spurt to take a 14-11 lead with 12 minutes left before halftime.  Grove City held a 16-15 edge at the 10:28 mark, but Geneva rallied with a 10-2 run and led for good at intermission, 37-26.

Sophomore Leigh LeGare (Copperas Cove, TX/Copperas Cove) led the Lady Wolverines with 10 points, while senior Erica Youngman (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. 

Geneva was paced by Renee Freeman's 14 points.

Grove City hit just five field goals in the second half (5-35) and finished the game 16-for-62 from the floor.

The Lady Wolverines next play at Carnegie Mellon Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
