Grove City falls at Juniata, 67-56


HUNTINGDON, PA, December 11, 2001--The Lady Wolverines committed a season-low 12 turnovers and posted their third-best shooting percentage of the year, but host Juniata nailed 16 of 16 free throws on its way to a 67-56 victory at Memorial Gymnasium in Huntingdon, Pa.

Senior Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) drilled a three-pointer with 15 minutes left in the game to give Grove City (2-5) a 33-31 lead, but Juniata (3-6) rallied with a 21-6 run and held on to post back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Sophomore Leigh LeGare (Copperas Cove, TX/Copperas Cove) paced the Lady Wolverines with 10 points on 5-for-8 shooting.  Junior Christy Faller (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) chipped in with eight points, hitting 4 of 4 shots from the floor.  Freshman Abby Moose (Mercer, PA/Mercer) also tallied eight points, netting a pair of three-pointers, and added four assists.

Juniata outshot Grove City, 44% to 39%, and outrebounded the Lady Wolverines, 41 to 30.

Murphy and junior Jessica Jenkins (Conneautville, PA/Cambridge Springs) grabbed five boards apiece for Grove City, who trailed at halftime, 27-24.
