Lady Wolverines beat E-town, 68-59

BOX SCORE

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA, January 4, 2002--Less than 24 hours after being stranded in airports along the East Coast, the Grove City Lady Wolverines posted back-to-back victories for the first time this season, beating host Elizabethtown College, 68-59, on the first day of the Coaches vs. Cancer Blue Jay Classic.

The Lady Wolverines (4-6) were scheduled to return from their two-game Florida trip on Thursday, but a snowstorm in the Southeast delayed their arrival at Pittsburgh International Airport until the wee hours of Friday.  The team bus pulled on to the GCC campus at 3:30 a.m. and departed for the five-hour trip to Elizabethtown, near Harrisburg, before noon.

Freshman Abby Moose (Mercer, PA/Mercer) paced the Lady Wolverines with 12 points and six rebounds.  Senior Erica Youngman (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) and sophomore Leigh LeGare (Copperas Cove, TX/Copperas Cove) tossed in 11 and 10 points, respectively.  Senior Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) posted a team-best three steals.

Grove City outshot the Lady Blue Jays, 46% to 43%, and outrebounded them, 38-27.

E-town (2-6) was led by Stephanie Scinto's 20 points.

The Lady Wolverines will tip-off against Shenandoah University Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in a pre-determined pairing.
