Grove City runs wins streak to three

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA, January 4, 2002--Senior Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) drilled five 3-pointers as the Grove City Lady Wolverines claimed their third straight victory with an 82-44 rout over Shenandoah University at the Coaches vs. Cancer Blue Jay Classic at Elizabethtown College. 

Murphy finished with a game-high 21 points, hitting 5 of 7 from behind the arc.   Murphy set the school record for 3-pointers in a game with six last year against Dubuque (IA) on Dec. 28, 2000.  She netted a career-high 26 points that night.

Sophomore Leigh LeGare (Copperas Cove, TX/Copperas Cove) and freshman Abby Moose (Mercer ,PA/Mercer) tossed in 10 points each for the Lady Wolverines, who last scored 80 points in a game in an 84-47 home win over Pitt-Bradford Dec. 6, 2000.  LeGare and junior Christy Faller (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) led the team with five rebounds apiece.

Murphy was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Moose earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Grove City (5-6) shot 43 percent from the floor (28-65), while holding Shenandoah (2-6) to 30 percent shooting (15-50).
