Lady Wolverines hold off Thiel, 65-61


GROVE CITY, PA, January 19, 2002--Junior Christy Faller (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) scored a team-high 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting as the Grove City Lady Wolverines improved to 2-0 in the Presidents'  Athletic Conference with a 65-61 victory over visiting Thiel Saturday afternoon.

The win marked Grove City's (8-8, 2-0 PAC) third in a row and sixth in its last seven games.

The Lady Wolverines used consecutive three-point plays from junior Jessica Jenkins (Conneautville, PA/Cambridge Springs) and senior Kristy Kegg (Johnstown, PA/Ferndale) to hold off Thiel (9-8, 0-2), who cut the lead to two points twice in the final 3:30.

Senior T.L. Thompson (Girard, PA/Girard) tossed in 10 points, Jenkins posted nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds and senior Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) chipped in with six assists.

Sara Snyder led three Lady Cats in double figures with 21 points.
