BOX SCORE

BETHANY, WV, February 22, 2002--Senior Kristy Kegg (Johnstown, PA/Ferndale) drilled a 25-foot bomb at the buzzer to send the second-seeded Grove City Lady Wolverines to a 65-62 overtime victory over third-seeded Washington & Jefferson in the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament semifinals Friday night at Bethany's Hummel Field House.

The Lady Wolverines advance to Saturday's PAC championship game at 2:00 p.m. against top-seeded and tournament host Bethany, who defeated fourth-seeded Thiel in the other semifinal, 85-62, Friday. Grove City and Bethany split the season series, 1-1.

Washington & Jefferson had a chance to break a 62-all tie in overtime, but Grove City senior Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) blocked a Shawndra McDonald shot with two seconds left. After the Lady Wolverines were awarded the ball in the frontcourt on a possession arrow, Murphy inbounded to Kegg nearly six feet behind the arc for the game-winning launch.

Grove City (14-11), who trailed 33-27 at halftime, had to rally from an 11-point deficit (50-39) in the final 7:30 of regulation to force the extra session. Freshman Abby Moose (Mercer, PA/Mercer) carried the Lady Wolverines down the stretch, accounting for 13 points in a 14-3 run that sent the game to OT tied, 53-53.

Murphy and Moose tallied and five and four points, respectively, in the first three minutes of overtime to put Grove City ahead, 62-57, before W&J tied it with 47 seconds left.

Moose, who rifled in a trio of NBA-style three-pointers in the late second-half rally, finished with a career-high 23 points and added a game-high four steals. Kegg poured in 14 points, including three treys. Junior Christy Faller (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) chipped in nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.

McDonald and Lauren Hull tossed in 16 points apiece to lead W&J (11-13). Hull added a game-high 18 boards, helping the Presidents to a 45-31 edge on the glass.
