Grove City notches first home win of season

GROVE CITY, Pa.  --  After missing three games with an ankle injury, senior Christy Faller (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) tossed in 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out a career-high six assists to help the Grove City College women's basketball team roll past Penn State Altoona 67-49 at the Grove City College Arena Wednesday night.

Junior Leigh LeGare (Copperas Cove, Texas/Copperas Cove) also added a double-double, recording 13 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. Meanwhile, senior guard Cara Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) racked up a dozen points for the Lady Wolverines.

Grove City fell behind 6-0 three minutes into the game but roared back with a 16-0 run, highlighted by consecutive baskets from Denniston.  The Lady Wolverines held Altoona (4-8) scoreless for nearly 10 minutes in the half and led 29-19 at the break. 

The Lady Wolverines out-rebounded Penn State Altoona 59-33 and held the visitors to just 18-for-60 (30 percent) shooting from the field.

Rachel Romance (East Springfield, Pa./Northwestern) collected four assists while LeGare added three assists.
