Lady Wolverines complete season sweep of Bethany

GROVE CITY, Pa.  --  Sophomore guard Abby Moose (New Wilmington, Pa./Mercer) fired in four three-pointers in a five-minute span during the second half, helping the Grove City College women's basketball team rally past visiting Bethany 63-58 at the Grove City College Arena Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

Moose finished with a game-high 18 points and gave Grove City (7-12, 4-2 PAC) its first lead of the game with a three at the 1:18 mark of the second half. Bethany had jumped out to a 9-0 lead early and held the lead for all but the final 78 seconds of the game.

Grove City trailed 48-38 midway through the second half before mounting a charge. Kellie Kepple (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) started the run while Tammy Hess (Vintondale, Pa./United) and Leigh LeGare (Copperas Cove, Texas/Copperas Cove) each swished jumpers. Hess and LeGare each finished with 10 points.

Moose then drilled her first three of the game and followed that up with a pull-up jumper, trimming the Bison lead to 51-49. Bethany (15-6, 2-4 PAC) extended its lead back to 58-54 before Moose drained consecutive three-point goals.

With Grove City leading 61-58, LeGare sealed the win with two free throws. Bethany made just one field goal over the final seven minutes of the game.

The Bison led by as many as 13 in the first half, 19-6, but Hess racked up a half-dozen points while Kepple and Cara Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) each added baskets to bring Grove City within 21-18.
