Montclair State nips Grove City in tourney semifinal
ERIE, Pa. -- Three Grove City players scored in double figures Friday night but undefeated Montclair State, N.J. rallied for a 75-71 win over the Lady Wolverines in semifinal action at the Penn State Behrend Winter Classic at the Junker Center.
Senior forward Leigh LeGare (Copperas Cove, Texas/Copperas Cove) fired in 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Grove City while junior guard Jocelyn Kempema added 15 points, including 3-of-5 accuracy on three-point attempts.
Junior center Sandy O'Keefe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds.
Grove City (3-3) led 36-29 at halftime but Montclair State (7-0) shot 52 percent (14-of-27) in the second half. Montclair State also held a decided edge at the foul line, making 24 of 39 shots. Grove City, which was whistled for 27 fouls, went 7-for-11.
Grove City will play Hilbert in the consolation game Saturday at 1 p.m. Behrend downed Hilbert, 64-47, in Friday's other semifinal.
