Grove City blitzes Pitt-Bradford

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- A 25-0 run during the middle portion of Tuesday night's game vaulted the Grove City College women's basketball team to a 61-41 win over Pitt-Bradford at the Grove City College Arena in non-conference action.

Grove City (7-4) led just 26-24 with four minutes left in the first half before closing the half with a 6-0 run. The Wolverines then broke the game open with a 19-0 spurt in the second half, holding Pitt-Bradford (0-10) scoreless for the first 9:16 of the second half.

Junior guard Abby Moose (New Wilmington, Pa./Mercer) led Grove City with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Moose also added four assists while junior guard Jocelyn Kempema (Fort Atkinson, Wisc./Edgewood) chipped in 13 points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals. 

Junior center Sandy O'Keefe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) tossed in 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots. Junior guard Rachel Romance (East Springfield, Pa./Northwestern) distributed a career-high six assists. 

Grove City out-rebounded the Panthers 42-41 and held Pitt-Bradford to 29 percent (19 of 66) shooting for the game. 

The Lady Wolverines will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play Saturday at home against Bethany at 1 p.m.
