Westminster edges Grove City
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Host Westminster led nearly wire-to-wire Wednesday night in pulling out a 53-49 victory over Grove City in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's basketball action at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
Grove City (7-7, 0-2) led only once, 48-47, with less than two minutes left following a jump shot from junior center Sandy O'Keefe (Perry, Ohio/Perry). Westminster (9-6, 2-0 PAC) managed to retake the lead, 51-48, in the final minute and O'Keefe's long three-point attempt to tie the game spun out of the basket in the final seconds.
O'Keefe led Grove City with 14 points. Desiree Sterling led Westminster with 17 points while Erica Tallo added a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double.
