Grove City runs past Juniata  

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back Friday night, rolling to a 72-51 win over Juniata in non-conference women's basketball action at the Grove City College Arena.

The Wolverines (7-4) held Juniata without a field goal through the first eight minutes of the game and held a 43-19 halftime lead. Grove City held the Eagles (3-8) to just 30 percent (21 of 71) shooting from the floor. It is the fifth straight game in which Grove City has limited an opponent to 31 percent shooting or less.

Freshman forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) posted her second straight double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Jocelyn Kempema (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Edgewood) added a season-high 11 points while senior center Sandy O'Keefe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) tossed in 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots. McCoy also had three blocks. As a team, the Wolverines blocked nine shots in the victory.

Sophomore guard-forward Lee Anne Lukcic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) added a career-high eight points and tied a career high with eight rebounds while sophomore guard Elyse Bogusz (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) distributed a career-high six assists. Bogusz also had five rebounds.

Kristen Kirk led Juniata with 19 points while Ali Meckey added 11.

Grove City out-rebounded Juniata 54-33. The Wolverines were 28 of 60 (47 percent) from the floor. Grove City entered the week ranked 20th nationally in Division III in field goal percentage at 45.4 percent.

The Wolverines visit Case Western Reserve Monday night at 7 p.m. in non-conference action.
