Case Western topples Grove City
CLEVELAND – The Grove City College women’s basketball team fell to 7-5 Monday night with a 74-64 loss at Case Western Reserve at the Veale Center in non-conference action.
Senior center Sandy O’Keefe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) led the Wolverines with 21 points, including a pair of three-point goals while freshman forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) added 12 points. Freshman Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) chipped in a season-high 10 points for Grove City.
The Wolverines fell behind 21-11 in the first half but surged ahead with a 14-2 run. Grove City trailed 38-37 at the half and led briefly in the second half, 39-38, after an O’Keefe jumper. The Spartans (6-5) then used a 9-0 run to take the lead for good.
Ashley Horton led CWRU with 22 points and 11 rebounds while Amber Hammell tossed in 21. Case Western held a 47-35 edge on the glass, including 22 offensive rebounds.
Grove City will host Penn State Behrend Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
