Wolverines even PAC record with win
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team improved to 9-8 overall and 2-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Wednesday night with a 73-50 home win over Thiel at the Grove City College Arena.
Senior guard Abby Moose (New Wilmington, Pa./Mercer) fired in 15 points and added eight steals while freshman forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) posted her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, a career high in each category.
Freshman forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) added 14 points and nine boards for Grove City.
Grove City closed the first half with a 13-0 run over the final four minutes of the period as Moose started the run with a three-pointer and later capped the spurt with a steal and a lay-up. Grove City opened the second half by scoring nine of the first 11 points. Thiel eventually pulled to within 50-40 midway through the second half but Grove City slammed the door with a 13-2 blitz.
The Wolverines forced 31 turnovers and held Thiel to just 17 of 65 (26 percent) shooting from the floor. Thiel did own a 54-43 rebounding edge. Kristen Benjamin led Thiel (5-14, 1-3 PAC) with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Grove City will visit PAC rival Bethany Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
