Wolverines extend streak to 5
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior guard Abby Moose (New Wilmington, Pa./Mercer) fired in 23 points Wednesday night, helping lead the Grove City College women's basketball team to a 74-63 win over Waynesburg in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena.
Senior guard Jocelyn Kempema (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Edgewood) added 15 points and five rebounds while freshman forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) posted 14 points, seven boards and four assists.
The victory is Grove City's fifth straight. The Wolverines (13-8, 5-2 PAC) have won 20 straight games against Waynesburg.
Waynesburg (9-11, 0-7 PAC) led by as many as 10 in the first half before the Wolverines rallied to forge a 34-34 halftime tie. The Wolverines took the lead for good, 44-43, in the second half as Moose sank a pair of free throws with 13 minutes left.
Grove City forced 20 turnovers, which led to 17 Wolverine points. Senior guard Rachel Romance (East Springfield, Pa./Northwestern) dished out five assists while junior guard Tammy Hess (Vintondale, Pa./United) had three steals.
Trista Murphy led the Yellow Jackets with 14 points. Grove City visits PAC-leading Washington and Jefferson Saturday at 1 p.m.
