Buffalo State tops Wolverines
ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 2-7 Saturday afternoon with a 60-49 loss to Buffalo State in the consolation game of the Behrend Winter Classic at the Junker Center.
Sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) led Grove City with a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double. She earned All-Tournament honors. Junior guard Elyse Bogusz (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) added 10 points while sophomore forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Wolverines led 16-12 in the first half but then went over 13 minutes without a field goal. During that span, Buffalo State (3-5) went on a 13-2 run to take the lead for good. Buffalo State led 29-20 at halftime.
Grove City shot 19 of 56 (34 percent) from the floor for the game while the Bengals were 21 of 64 (33 percent). Buffalo State out-rebounded Grove City, 45-40.
Grove City will visit Allegheny Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in non-conference action.
