Juniata downs Grove City

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 3-9 Saturday afternoon with a 79-57 loss at Juniata in non-conference action at Memorial Gymnasium.

Sophomore forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) led Grove City with a career-high 20 points while sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) added 17 points and eight rebounds.

Juniata (7-6) led by as many as 11, 32-21, in the first half. Grove City charged back in the second half and took a 45-43 lead with 14 minutes left on an Anderson layup. However, Juniata took control of the game with a 21-2 run. Grove City went nearly 12 minutes without a field goal during Juniata's run.

Freshman guard Raeann Szelong (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) distributed six assists for Grove City. The Wolverines did commit 23 turnovers, however.

Jess Winemiller led Juniata with 26 points.

Grove City will host La Roche Monday night in non-conference action.
