Thiel knocks off Grove City
GROVE CITY. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 6-11 overall and 2-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Wednesday night with a 56-38 home loss to Thiel in the Grove City College Arena.
It is Thiel's first win at Grove City since Jan. 19, 1994.
Grove City shot just 19 percent (12 of 65) from the field in the defeat. Sophomore forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) led Grove City with a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double. It is her first double-double of the season.
Grove City trailed 26-16 at halftime but eventually pulled to within 33-28 midway through the second half. However, Thiel (5-12, 3-1 PAC) used a 7-0 spurt to break the game open down the stretch.
Heather Abate led the Tomcats with 14 points while Amber Bodrick had a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Grove City will visit Bethany Saturday afternoon in PAC action at 4 p.m.
