Bethany slips past Grove City
BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 6-12 overall and 2-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 66-57 loss to host Bethany at Hummel Field House in PAC action.
The game featured a dozen lead changes and nine ties. The teams traded the lead 10 times in the second half. However, Bethany (6-12, 2-3 PAC) put the game away with an 8-0 run in the final 40 seconds. The Bison went 6-for-6 at the foul line in that span.
Sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) led Grove City with 19 points and seven rebounds. She also blocked three shots. Sophomore forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) added nine points and five boards.
Jenny Place led the Bison with 23 points while Courtney Irwin had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Grove City will visit Washington and Jefferson Wednesday night in PAC action at 6 p.m.
