Presidents top Grove City
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 6-13 overall and 2-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Wednesday night with a 58-45 loss at Washington and Jefferson in PAC action at the Henry Memorial Center.
Washington and Jefferson (15-3, 5-1 PAC) pulled away down the stretch, closing the game with a 10-2 run. The game featured 11 lead changes and three ties.
Senior Tammy Hess (Vintondale, Pa./United) led Grove City with an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double, the first double-double of her career. Sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Grove City led by four on two different occasions in the first half but the Presidents rallied to forge a 27-27 tie at halftime. In the second half, Grove City shot just 6 of 29 (29 percent) from the floor.
Leigh Sulkowski led the Presidents with 14 points while Lauren Slampak added 12.
Grove City will visit Westminster in PAC action next Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m.
