Westminster trims Grove City, 57-46
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 57-46 decision to host Westminster Wednesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
Westminster (5-16, 2-6 PAC) took the lead for good midway through the second half with a 9-0 run. The Lady Titans shot 12 of 24 (50 percent) from the floor in the second half while Grove City (6-14, 2-5 PAC) shot just 7 of 27 (26 percent) over the final 20 minutes.
Sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) led Grove City with 11 points while sophomore forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) added 10 points, six boards, four assists and four steals. Sophomore guard Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) also scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Desiree Sterling led Westminster with 20 points while Emilee Ackerman added 14. Sterling also had a game-high nine rebounds, helping the Lady Titans own a 40-30 edge on the glass.
Grove City returns to action Saturday at home against PAC co-leader Thomas More at 1 p.m.
